Ruth Goldman

Ruth Goldman, Chair of the New Leader Scholarship Advisory Board, is a Professor Emerita of Psychology at San Francisco State University and, over the course of her career, has taught at several other public universities. She continues her private practice as a psychotherapist as well as her consultation to social service organizations and the schools. Dr. Goldman has served on numerous mental health-related boards, was on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, was a trustee, and is a fellow of the American Orthopsychiatric Association. She has conducted research in the areas of psychotherapy and early childhood intervention, publishing numerous scientific papers on those subjects. Over the course of her career, Dr. Goldman has received many awards, fellowships and grants, acknowledging her contribution to the field of community mental health. She holds a doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley in Psychology and a B.A. degree from Queens College, City University of New York.
